Adapting but referencing the century old existing maisonette was important to my clients. Nestled within the inner-suburbs of Adelaide the clients needed to adapt their house to suit their lifestyle.
Providing a new kitchen / dining space that connected to the outdoors as well as all new amenities and access to the rambling cellar was basically the brief. Forming a reverse-brick steel clad box with a red brick masonry plinth allowed the continuity of the internal spaces, but clearly defined the century old building against the contemporary twist. Internal ceiling heights were maximized to match the existing and former windows and doorways where left revealed to expose the past iterations of this home.
Proposed for construction this year, the project will thread new life through this beautiful home.
