Port Lincoln Residence
Homes reflect who we are and as a family grows so must the house. This project transforms a small typical 1960’s dwelling on a sloped block into a striking family home which now stretches out towards the hill and ocean vistas beyond.
Tracing the contours and maximising its northern orientation the house now responds passively to its environment. The new insulated suspended concrete slab now absorbs the solar energy and locks it in for thermal mass, whilst substantial new operable glazing facilitates passive cooling via cross-ventilation.
A re-programming off internal spaces elevates the kitchen to the heart-of-the-home and a cathedral ceiling over the main living area establishes a greater sense of spaciousness.
